The Journey Continues…

In spring 2025, I’ve had the privilege of joining the United International Business School (UIBS) as a professor.

What drew me to UIBS is its truly global philosophy: with multiple international campuses and a diverse portfolio of programs and degrees, UIBS sets itself apart in the crowded world of business education.

On its website, UIBS sums up its mission beautifully: “We are dedicated to intercultural education with a global perspective, helping future managers and young entrepreneurs unlock their full potential — through flexible programs and personal guidance every step of the way.”

I designed the lectures to blend essential textbook theory with my own perspectives and hands-on insights as both a leader and someone who has been led. With over thirty years of experience across academia, reinsurance, executive leadership, and consulting, I know how to lead and how not to lead.

One observation that continues to strike me: strategic risk management is still surprisingly absent in mainstream leadership literature. Perhaps there’s uncharted opportunity here worth exploring further.

Teaching a 30-hour “Leadership” course at a business school was a first for me – and a rewarding one. I remember walking into the Zurich campus for the first time, right in the heart of the city, wearing a wide- and an admittedly slightly nervous- smile.

What awaited me was a small, highly dedicated group of students: curious, appreciative of the ambitious standards, and fully engaged. Their participation was outstanding, ranging from insightful questions, strong group dynamics that culminated in impressive individual and team projects.

I’m already looking forward to the fall/winter semester.

The journey is just getting started.
